I have a comment regarding the 1913 - 1914 - 1915 sections of Butler's History Of Hudson. In each year, Butler lists starting and ending serial numbers - implying that all numbers were used. This is misleading, most notably the apparent "over-lap" of 1914 and 1915 Model 54 serial numbers. Please see the attached word transcription of Hudson literature, with Total #'s column added by me.
Obviously, they planned production and assigned the 1914 and 1915 serial numbers at the same time, for both the Model 40 and the Model 54:

1914 640 Roadster 73001-73500 ; 1915 640 Roadster 73501-75000
1914 640 Cabriolet 75001-75500 ; 1915 640 Cabriolet 75501-76000
etc.

1914 654 Touring 56501-59000 ; 1915 654 Phaeton 59001-61500
1914 654 Sedan 61501-61700 ; 1915 654 Limousine 61701-62000
etc.

Please note that the numbers assigned in Handbook Insert No. 109 indicate a maximum number that was planned and may or may not be close to actual production numbers.
